Notes, bookmarks, and any optional location saved when writing are stored on your device. Entries are not uploaded to a developer server; Apple services are used to display maps and look up place names.

1. Scope and operator

KYU LAB (operated by Hyeonkyu Lee) explains how information is handled in the NoteRoad iOS app and the choices available to you. NoteRoad is a personal note-taking app that lets you find and read notes near your current location and organize entries with bookmarks.

No account registration or login is required. KYU LAB does not operate a server that collects entries, and does not automatically receive the notes, bookmarks, or writing locations you save in the app. The handling of Apple map services and inquiry emails you choose to send is explained separately below.

2. Information handled on your device

  • Entries: Text, entry identifiers, creation and modification times, and linked bookmarks. These are used to save and edit notes and find them again in lists and searches.
  • Bookmarks: Names, identifiers, display order, and links to entries. These are used to organize entries and display them in bookmark order.
  • Drafts in progress: The text of a new note or a note being edited. This is used to let you continue writing after closing the editor or reopening the app.
  • Optional writing location: Latitude and longitude, location measurement time, accuracy, and whether the location is approximate. If a location is obtained when saving a new note, it is stored with the note and used to sort nearby entries and display them on the map.
  • Current location: This is used as a temporary reference to sort nearby entries and determine the writing location of a new note. Current locations are not accumulated into a continuous movement history.

Entries and bookmarks are stored in the app’s storage on your device; drafts are stored in the app’s preferences storage on your device. NoteRoad has no account-based synchronization or CloudKit synchronization of its own.

3. Location use and your choices

Location is optional. The app requests iOS location permission when it needs to check your location while you are using the app. It does not record your movement history in the background.

  • Even if you deny permission or a location cannot be obtained, you can save notes and read and search them in the full list of entries. Sorting by proximity to your current location is limited.
  • Coordinates obtained later are not automatically added to notes saved without a location. Editing the text of an existing note does not replace its writing location with a new location.
  • You can change location access and Precise Location in your iPhone’s Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → NoteRoad. If you allow only approximate location, distances and map displays are also affected by that accuracy.
  • Turning permission off does not automatically delete locations already saved in entries. Deleting an entry removes its saved location with it. The current app has no feature to remove only the location from a saved entry.

Turning off location permission is separate from viewing saved entries on a map. Opening a map screen with previous entries may still generate requests to Apple services to display that map area.

4. Apple services and external processing

Map display and place-name lookup

NoteRoad uses Apple’s MapKit and location services. Information such as the map area needed to display a map screen and the coordinates needed to look up a place name may be processed by Apple services over the communications network. Place-name lookup also takes place when the app checks your current location again.

The app does not include note text or bookmark names in place-name lookup requests. Entries shown on the map use records stored on your device, and the app has no feature that sends entries to a separate developer server.

Apple’s map services handle information needed for map requests and device and network information under Apple’s own policies. You can find Apple’s processing and retention practices and your choices in Apple Maps & Privacy and the Apple Privacy Policy. KYU LAB does not guarantee the storage country or immediate deletion of a specific request.

You can read and write saved notes without using maps or place-name lookup. If you do not want your current location to be checked, you can turn off location permission. If you do not want map requests, you can choose not to use the map screen.

Device backups

The app has no backup-file export or cloud synchronization feature of its own. However, depending on iOS and your settings, app data may be included in an iCloud or computer device backup. This differs from server storage by NoteRoad and must be managed through the device or backup service concerned.

5. Retention and deletion

Saved entries and bookmarks remain on your device until you delete them. The app does not automatically delete entries because a period of time has passed.

  • Deleting an entry: Open the entry and confirm deletion in Manage entry → Delete. Stored information such as the entry’s text and writing location, along with its editing draft, is deleted together.
  • Deleting a bookmark: Delete it in bookmark management. Only the bookmark is removed; its notes remain uncategorized. To remove the notes too, you must delete the entries separately.
  • Clearing drafts: Completing a save removes the corresponding draft. To clear the text of an unsaved draft, delete all its content in the editor and then close it. Clearing an editing draft does not delete the entry already saved.
  • Deleting app data: You can remove the app’s local data using iOS’s Delete App. Please distinguish this from Offload App, which keeps the data.

Deleting an entry in the app does not also delete data included in previous device backups. You must manage older backups separately in the relevant backup tool. KYU LAB cannot remotely access, restore, or delete entries on your device.

6. Permissions and automatic collection

The purpose of NoteRoad’s location permission and the choices available to you are explained in section 3. The app does not request access to photos, the camera, the microphone, or contacts.

The app has no separate external SDKs for advertising, user tracking, or usage analytics, and does not send entries to external AI services. Processing by Apple map and location services, and operating-system diagnostic and backup features you choose, are separate from analytics collection by the app operator.

7. Information protection and your rights

You can view, edit, and delete notes and manage bookmarks in the app. There is no account, so there is no account-deletion process. There is no separate feature to correct or delete only a saved location. If you do not want to retain an entry’s location, you can save its content elsewhere and then delete the entry.

The app uses storage on your device. It does not provide a separate app lock or its own additional encryption feature, so please use your device lock and the operating system’s security features. Before handing your device to someone else or deleting the app, please check any entries and backups you need.

You can request access, correction, deletion, or suspension of processing of information held by KYU LAB, such as inquiry emails, at support@kyu-lab.com. You must manage records on your device yourself through the app and device settings, as the operator does not hold them.

8. Children’s information

NoteRoad does not accept account registration or ask you to enter your age or date of birth. Notes written by children are also handled on the device and are not automatically sent to the operator. A parent or guardian can help manage location permission and device use. A legal representative can send inquiries and requests to exercise rights concerning a child’s personal information through the support email.

9. Inquiry information and contact details

When you contact us by email, we use the sender’s address, inquiry content, and any materials you attach to respond and handle your request. Please do not send information unnecessary to resolve the issue, such as your precise location, all your notes, or passwords.

Inquiry emails and attachments are retained until the request has been handled and deleted within 30 days after completing our response. Sent replies, trash, and downloaded attachments managed by KYU LAB are also cleared.

We use iCloud Mail to receive, store, and respond to inquiries.

  • Service provider: The service provider for users in Korea is Apple Services Pte. Ltd. (Singapore). You can contact the provider through Apple Privacy Inquiries. iCloud Terms and Conditions
  • Information, timing, method, and purposes: When emails are sent or received, the sender’s address, subject, message body, attachments, and sending and receiving information are transmitted over the communications network and used for email delivery, storage, responses, and service security and operation.
  • Processing and storage outside Korea: Apple states that it may process and store information on servers in the United States, the EU, the United Kingdom, or countries participating in the Global CBPR system. This does not establish the actual storage country of a particular inquiry email. Apple’s own security and operational records may be retained according to their processing purposes and legal or business retention needs. Apple Privacy Policy
  • Choice and refusal: Email inquiries are optional. If you do not want this processing, you can choose not to send an inquiry and still use the app’s recording features. You can request deletion or suspension of processing of an inquiry already sent through the support email.

10. Effective date and changes

This policy takes effect on October 3, 2026. The time zone for its effective date is Korea Standard Time (Asia/Seoul).

If information handling changes, we will announce the changes and their effective date on this page and make previous policies available. Publishing a policy does not replace obtaining consent for changes that require separate consent.
