The Day

Keep a record of today without writing at length

What I built

An iPhone diary app for recording your day by choosing activities and adding a short note or photo. It began as a diary you could write in a minute, with the working name simple_diary, before becoming The Day. You can record just activities or just a mood. Revisit entries in a dated list or calendar, and keep a month's memories as a collage image. The core features are implemented; the current work is reviewing the flow before release and preparing the privacy policy.

History

  1. A simple daily diary

Named the app The Day and implemented activity, note, and photo entries, editing and deletion, draft continuation, a calendar, and search. Records are stored on the device without an account or server.

  2. Keeping accumulated memories

Added monthly views, image exports, and full backup and restore covering entries, photos, and drafts. You can choose what to include in an image you share.

  3. Keeping the day's mood too

Added five optional moods. Each entry can keep a different mood even on the same day, with support in search and backup. The core implementation is complete; screens and usability on an actual iPhone still need checking.

  4. Pre-release checks

Checked onboarding, entry and draft persistence after relaunch, and notification settings in the simulator. Privacy access declarations and Korean as the default language were also reflected in the source. The final build including later fixes and checks on a physical iPhone are still pending, so verification continues.

  5. Preparing the privacy policy

Prepared the privacy policy around the actual storage, deletion, and backup behavior and published it on the KYU LAB site. The contact address is support@kyu-lab.com, with inquiries deleted within 30 days after the response is completed. The same policy address is linked in the app settings.
